How Does the IntelliCharger Work?

XS Power chargers use a high-tech microprocessor to charge quickly, completely, and safely. In the first mode, also known as "bulk" charging, the IntelliCharger proceeds at a fixed amperage regardless of the battery's state. The charger monitors the voltage per cell and when a user-selected level is met, the charger moves to the second mode, which is constant voltage. IntelliCharger's have switches on the front panel to allow the end user to select a monitored voltage. It is important that the battery type and what is set on the switch match.

In constant voltage mode, or "absorption" charging, the voltage is locked and the amperage is allowed to float down. Patented algorithms are employed to equalize all the battery cells during the absorption-charging phase.

Lastly, the third phase is called "float" charging. Float mode drops the voltage output to a level that will safely maintain the battery indefinitely.
