This alternator is a full-effort 320 amp unit designed for hardcore enthusiasts who want the highest peak alternator output possible. This unit has a custom internal voltage regulator preset to 14.9 volts cold, (approximately 14.5 volts hot) that will require the installer to connect one wire to a switched 12v source for operation.
Because this unit charges slightly higher than the original voltage setpoint, the “check battery” light will stay on in the dash. This 320 amp S Series alternator is designed for maximum output at 2,000 RPM engine speed, and will not charge well at engine idle RPM speeds below 800 rpm. If you are looking for maximum output below 800 RPM engine speed, or for the “check battery light” to work normally, please look at our 240 amp version. This hairpin alternator offers incredible output in a compact and durable package. 12 diodes, twin rectifier pure copper rectifier plates and outstanding airflow ensure long service life, even in severe conditions. This alternator provides 320 amps at cruising speed, and 140 amps of power at 800 RPM engine speed with an OEM 3:1 pulley ratio.
***Installation notes: This alternator comes with a 1.75" diameter pulley and may require a belt slightly shorter than stock length in order to maintain proper belt tension. It will also require the supplied pigtail to be wired to an ignition switched 12V+ source.
